Current Needs

NUWOCSI’s vehicle that is used to drive between our projects is in need of a new engine. The vehicle is a 1994 Toyota Prado Land cruiser and after many attempts to repairing and keeping the engine running well it is now apparent that the vehicle needs a new engine. Other than the engine the truck is a good solid vehicle that has proven to be a work horse and the rough roads in the villages prove to be no problem for this truck.

This truck is used to travel to the village to work with our quilting women, while loaded down with fabric and sewing supplies. It is used to transport bee hives and has even been known to transport goats. It is also used to travel around Uganda, purchasing fabrics or making the 6 hour trip to Kampala to complete business.

As the cost of purchasing used vehicles in Uganda is very expensive then add in not really knowing how good of a condition a used vehicle may be in when your purchase it, we feel it is more economical to just replace the engine in this truck. The price we have been quoted is approximately $4,500. This includes the whole engine, cylinder and block and includes the gear box.
